(DA) Den franske musiker Jean-Michael Jarre er nok mest kendte for sine stort iscenesatte lysshowskoncerter, men han er meget mere og andet end en teknologisk ekvilibrist. Fremfor alt er han en kunstner, hvis musik tager publikum med på rejser ud i det kosmos, som Jorden er en del af, for at forfine og skærpe publikums sensibilitet for dets skønhed i en tid, hvor denne skønhed er truet af destruktion.
Dette aspekt af Jarres ouevre kommer særlig tydeligt til udtryk i hans to "vandværker" – 'Waiting for Costeau' fra 1990 og 'Amazonia' fra 2022. Skabt med mere end tredive års mellemrum er de henholdsvis en hyldest til Jarres landmands, den legendariske oceanograf Jacques Cousteau, og til Amazonflodens biotopiske rigdom (og et akkompagnement til en udstilling med dokumentariske fotos af Sebastião Salagado).
