The Benchmark School is a private elementary school in Media, Pennsylvania noted for tailoring its curriculum to the learning styles of its students. SHoP was asked to create an innovation laboratory as a small, freestanding addition to an existing campus building. Recognizing that the new structure itself could operate as a teaching tool, SHoP designed it to embody and exhibit many of the processes and techniques that the students themselves discover in their own experimentation with various 3D modeling and printing tools and platforms.

We are living in an age of Political Correctness. We share and respect values from different point of views, such as LGBT, BLM and feminism. Diversity is the innovation of humanity but I have a concern about a world with JUSTICE ONLY. “Leftard” is a movie about harassment. There are 50+ kinds of harassments in Japan. I suggest an idea of “A strong opinion of justice is a kind of violence” and the story is the outcome I can foresee. We cannot define the problem objectively but only the subjective judgement of the victims. Overreaction is poison and over-justice is ruining our freedom of speech.

Reinventing inclusive design through the use of cardboard. A material usually employed as container, now it can be a doormat or a table. Through examples of re-use, cardboard becomes a symbol and gives a new understanding of inclusive design: creativity, accessibility and recycling may be pillars for a new (social) inclusion within modern design and architecture.

This hidden place is enclosed by skyscrapers and the continuous transformations of Tirana. We had the honour of being part of Dashira’s daily routine for a week. Her Gjelltore became for us a way to explore the identity of the neighbourhood: the needs, the hopes and the preoccupations of its citizens. Her dedication to keeping this place open to serve workers, passersby and old acquaintances restores a precise sense of belonging against the fast pace of the city. Every day, tiny spontaneous gestures of care turn this small canteen into a gentle place of resistance. We learned from Dashira’s Gjelltore how to grasp the mechanism of relationships and place-making. This is a shared space, where you are able to count on a warm meal, a point of reference open seven days a week: in one word a recipe for community building. Gjelltor-ism is our method to interact with the urban environment - a new tool to trigger alternative futures for sensible city planning.

Siddhipur is small traditional settlement in Mahalaxmi municipality. People from Siddhipur always have to go to major city center for emergency health services. Mainly during the major crisis like earthquake and covid, the community realized a need of affordable health care center in case of emergency. To address the need, community member came together with the idea of building their own community health center. As a result, with the support from various agencies, community of Siddhipur was able to have their very own community health center where everyone has access to the health services they need, without suffering financial hardship. Now, no one needs to be deprived of the health services in Siddhipur.
