As part of the Copenhagen Architecture Biennial 2025, organised by CAFx – Copenhagen Architecture Forum, The Cluster for Spatial Inclusion at the Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation invites you to the event Creative Ageing.
This event is the second in the series And So We Create Different Rhythms, which brings together artists, spatial practitioners and scholars to reflect on the role of norms and polyrhythms in architecture.
Creative Ageing explores the emancipatory potential of ageing individuals’ minor gestures of homemaking and frames these as creative processes. This is explored through the sharing of research, a film viewing and a presentation about ‘Artful Ageing’ followed by a collective conversation.
Programme
Admission is free for the event and no registration is needed.
The Cluster for Spatial Inclusion would like to thank Copenhagen Architecture Biennial 2025 for supporting the event with the location and technical assistance.
About Tine Fristrup, PhD:
Tine Fristrup holds a position as Associate Professor at the Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University. She is researching how the ageing society and new longevity patterns challenge the age-differentiated social structuring of society, necessitating novel age-integrated social contracts that shift the lens from age to ability. Fristrup has developed the conceptual framework of 'Artful Ageing', which challenges dominant active ageing narratives by emphasising the transformative potential of minor gestures and creative care in later life.

About Cluster for Spatial Inclusion:
Cluster for Spatial Inclusion is a research platform at the Royal Danish Academy. We study the spatial implications of contemporary challenges aspiring for equality in relation to the built environment. We challenge normative design practices and aim to develop methods and processes that open interdependence over independence and recognise shared vulnerabilities rather than assuming self-sufficiency. The cluster is supported by Bevica Fonden.

DAN:
