Her kan du opleve alt fra massive fundamenter og store munkesten til søjler, skulpturer og udsmykninger fra byporte, klostre og kirker – arkitektoniske levn, der i dag ikke efterlader synlige spor over jorden. Arkæologerne viser originale bygningsdele, gamle kort og billeder fra udgravninger og fortæller om de historier, disse fund kaster lys over: Hvordan bygningerne har set ud, hvem der har brugt dem, og hvordan de passer ind i Københavns arkitektoniske udvikling.

Beneath the streets of Copenhagen lie remains of buildings long gone from the cityscape. On the occasion of the Copenhagen Architecture Biennial, Arkæologisk Værksted invites you on a fascinating journey into the city’s hidden layers.

Here, you can experience everything from massive foundations and large medieval bricks to columns, sculptures, and decorations from city gates, monasteries, and churches—architectural relics that today leave no visible traces above ground. The archaeologists will show original building parts, old maps, and excavation photos, and tell the stories these finds illuminate: how the buildings looked, who used them, and how they fit into Copenhagen’s architectural development.
