The Clay Pavilion investigates and demonstrates how clay from Danish fields can be developed into articulated unfired building tiles and composed together to form expressive and functional assemblies.

Working with clay follows an architectural-cultural tradition of creating geometries from simple materials that are widely accessible throughout the country.

Unfired tiles differ from conventional brickwork but share the material properties not available in lighter, biogenic materials, pointing to the steadiness and longevity of heavier structures that communicate calmness. As the pavilion is exposed to weathering, the pavilion will gradual be influence by the elements, revealing slowly the interconnections between Earth and Environment.

Clay Pavilion undersøger og demonstrerer, hvordan ler fra danske marker kan udvikles til ubrændte lersten, som sættes sammen til udtryksfulde og funktionelle samlinger.

Arbejdet med ler følger en arkitektonisk og kulturel tradition for at skabe geometriske former ud af simple materialer, der er bredt tilgængelige i hele landet. Ubrændte lersten adskiller sig fra konventionelt murværk, men deler materialegenskaber, som ikke findes i lettere, biogene materialer, og peger på stabiliteten og langtidsholdbarheden af tungere konstruktioner, der formidler ro.

Efterhånden som pavillonen udsættes for vejret, vil den gradvist blive påvirket af elementerne og langsomt afsløre sammenhængene mellem Jord og Miljø.
