Lecture & Workshop: Exploring the Art of Japanese Windows

In collaboration with the Window Research Institute (Tokyo), architectural historian and professor Taro Igarashi will give a lecture on the history of Japanese windows, focusing on their development and significance in both traditional and modern architecture.

After the lecture, the Window Research Institute will demonstrate how Japanese Shoji windows made with washi paper are created. Here, you can see and experience the meditative process of traditional craftsmanship and the art of making windows by hand.

We offer 20 participants the opportunity to actively join the Shoji workshop. Selection will be made by lottery on the day.

I samarbejde med Window Research Institute (Tokyo) giver arkitekturhistoriker og professor Taro Igarashi en forelæsning om japanske vinduers historie, med fokus på deres udvikling og betydning i både traditionel og moderne arkitektur.
Efter forelæsningen vil Window Research Institute vise, hvordan de japanske Shoji vinduer med washi-papir laves. Her kan du se og opleve den meditative proces ved traditionelt håndværk og kunsten at lave vinduer med hænderne.
Vi tilbyder 20 personer at deltage aktivt i Shoji-workshoppen. Udvæglelsen sker ved lodtrækning på dagen.
