7 Walks with Mark Brown

A quiet film about plants, patience, and the importance of looking twice.

In 7 Walks with Mark Brown, French filmmakers Pierre Creton and Vincent Barré join British botanist Mark Brown and a small group of flora enthusiasts as they search for indigenous plants in forgotten corners of Normandy. Divided into two parts, the film begins as a series of gentle excursions before evolving into a meditation on ecological memory, companionship, and slowness as a mode of attention.

The first part of the film, shot digitally, follows Brown as he shares his extensive knowledge of flowers. It then transitions to a luminous second part, filmed on 16mm, where the diverse flora spoken about in the first part is rendered up close through the photochemical richness of analog film. 7 Walks with Mark Brown is a pedestrian road movie that puts flowers first, in front and at the center.
