On death, architecture, and the poetic visions of Carlo Scarpa and Aldo Rossi – introduced by Martin Søberg.

Beyond the Life of Forms is a contemplative filmic journey into two of the most iconic funerary architectures of the 20th century: the Brion Cemetery by Carlo Scarpa and the San Cataldo Cemetery by Aldo Rossi. The film explores how these spaces transcend physical form to touch on themes of memory, silence, ritual, and absence.

Through evocative imagery and reflective narration, directors Francesco Conversano and Nene Grignaffini examine how Scarpa and Rossi each constructed meditations on death that remain deeply resonant today. The Brion complex emerges as a lyrical composition of material and light, while San Cataldo is presented as a metaphysical geometry of voids. Together, the two sites become points of entry into architecture as a spiritual and philosophical practice.

  • The screening will be introduced by architectural historian Martin Søberg from the Royal Danish Academy and is supported by The Italian Cultural Institute
  • A film by Francesco Conversano and Nene Grignaffini

Beyond the Life of Forms er en kontemplativ filmisk rejse ind i to af det 20.
