Make Materials Matter

Søren Pihlmann Finds Poetry in Present Ressources

Join us for the world premiere of Make Materials Matter and meet the directors and the film’s protagonist, Søren Pihlmann, in conversation. A special Biennial beer will be served.

Danish architect Søren Pihlmann wants nothing less than to revolutionise how we build. He sees an inherent quality and beauty in existing materials and wants to explore alternative ways to the traditional practice of tearing down, throwing away and building anew. Louisiana Channel has followed Søren Pihlmann for three years and assembled a portrait of one of the most interesting characters in global architecture right now. Make Materials Matter explores Pihlmann’s approach in his own words and through his most prominent projects, from transforming an industrial building in Copenhagen to representing Denmark at the Biennale Architettura 2025 in Venice.

A film by Simon Weyhe and Marc-Christoph Wagner

Year: 2025, length: app. 45 min., language: Danish and English, subs: English, introduction in English
