On memory, displacement, and the return to a vanished town.
In 2001, the entire population of the Colombian town La Bonga fled overnight after receiving a death threat from paramilitary forces. More than two decades later, the displaced community sets out on a symbolic return to reclaim the land and history they were forced to abandon.
La Bonga is a powerful and poetic documentary about memory, violence, and resilience. As the villagers walk through dense jungle to the ruins of their former home, the film becomes both a collective act of remembrance and a portrait of the ties between people and place.
