The Theater Museum at The Court Theater

Open House
Credit:

The Theatre Museum in the Court Theatre is opening its doors exclusively for two guided tours themed “The Storytelling Restoration,” showcasing examples of historical traces and details in the interior.

The Baroque theatre’s auditorium and stage are presented alongside the large, bright foyer, which serves as a living testament to the time when the room functioned as the king’s armory. In the early years after the Court Theatre’s opening in 1767, the foyer was used as a reception area for guests attending the many masquerades. Today, the room retains its original ceiling height of 7.2 meters.

The Court Theatre is part of the first Christiansborg Palace and, throughout history, with its location at the heart of power, has served as a cultural-historical mirror of society’s development—especially during the period from absolute monarchy to democracy in Denmark.

The guided tours are in danish.
