Slow Down the Urban Food System

Conversation
Credit:
Liv Kastrup for Madland

What happens if fast-moving, super-efficient farming, distribution, shopping, and cooking are exchanged for a slow approach to food system change and city planning?

Could it foster a strong connection between rural farmers and urban citizens? Would it ensure access to fresh, green, and local produce for citizens, food producers, shops, restaurants, and canteens, and reconnect people to food, embracing their role in change?

Join Tina Saaby, architect and CEO at the Danish Town Planning Institute; Christian Pagh, Senior Project Lead of Urban Commons at Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke; and Marie Sainabou Jeng, Founder and Programme Director at Madland, in a talk at Villette exploring how city planning could pivot towards a slow value chain and food system.

DA:
