On housing injustice, civil disobedience and the right to shelter.

Amidst Toronto’s freezing winter and an escalating housing crisis, carpenter Khaleel Seivwright begins building insulated micro-shelters for people forced to sleep outside. His simple, hands-on response to a growing emergency draws international attention – and strong opposition from city authorities. Someone Lives Here is a powerful documentary about dignity, systemic failure, and who gets to shape the city.

Narrated by Taka, a woman living in one of the shelters, the film documents a deeply human struggle for survival and justice, while questioning why effective grassroots solutions are so often met with resistance.

The screening is introduced by Bo Heide-Jochimsen from Projekt UDENFOR, an organisation working with people experiencing homelessness in public space.

A film by Zack Russell,

year: 2023, length: 75 min.

Two short films; “Docking” and “Der er ikke plads til os”, will be shown in continuation of the film.
