Sonic Architecture: SLOW at Brønshøj Water Tower

For Sonic Architecture, internationally acclaimed percussionist Ying-Hsueh Chen (TW/DK) transforms herself into a "sound medium," spontaneously creating site-specific works in the magical acoustic space of Brønshøj Water Tower. The floating ceiling and massive concrete pillars produce an otherworldly resonance, where sound lingers in the air for approximately 15 seconds.

The marimba’s wood striking against concrete generates a deep, dark, and layered sound, and the long echoes allow for a slow, meditative playing style—where the silence between notes becomes just as important as the notes themselves, and the reverberation shapes the music, becoming a co-creator. This will be a radical SLOW concert – a meditation between sound, time, material, and space.

Til "Sonic Architecture" forvandler den internationalt anerkendte slagtøjsspiller Ying-Hsueh Chen (TW/DK) sig til et “lydmedie”, der spontant skaber stedspecifikke værker i det magiske akustiske rum i Brønshøj Vandtårn. Det svævende loft og de massive betonsøjler danner en “otherworldly” klang, hvor lyden hænger i luften i ca. 15 sekunder.

Marimbaens træ mod beton skaber en dyb, mørk og lagdelt lyd, og de lange ekkoer muliggør et langsomt, meditativt spil, hvor stilheden mellem tonerne bliver lige så vigtig som tonerne selv, og efterklangen former musikken og bliver en medskaber. Det bliver en radikal SLOW-koncert – en meditation mellem lyd, tid, materiale og rum.
