Talk: RIFT - Regenerative Ideas For Tomorrow

This roundtable discussion brings together architects, artists and material developers to explore regenerative architecture and the potential of biogenic materials in the Nordic region.

How can we build in harmony with nature? How can we identify resources and develop bio-based materials that can be scaled within planetary boundaries?

The discussion will begin with short insights from Nordic representatives, sharing the current state of the biogenic field in their respective countries. This will be followed by four in-depth presentations from invited guests:

  • Jenny Nordberg (Sweden) – Designer, presenting the project Fiberland
  • Collaboratorio (Finland) – Architects sharing their journey of developing their own material; Luonnonbetoni, an ecological alternative to concrete
  • Alberte Holmø Bojesen (Denmark) – Artist exploring the potential of seaweed
  • Lúdika (Iceland) – Architects exploring ways of building with biobased material on Iceland

These presentations will provide the foundation for a collective roundtable discussion.

RIFT is an artistic research project exploring how we can build in symbiosis with nature, using biogenic materials sourced from the Nordic landscape. Through built examples, material samples and experimental prototypes, we map regenerative practices across the region and explore how local resources can shape an architecture that is ecological, tactile and deeply rooted in place.
