The fridges are placed in an urban context with a sense of history and conflict. On one side is a gentrifying neighborhood; on the other is a cultural center guarding the under-represented. When a domestic object speaks its mother tongue of intimacy, boundaries begin to dissolve. Giving and receiving, entering and leaving, opening and closing, are all packed and shared inside these two fridges, by the name of food, from these fridges to all the fridges.

In return for their great sacrifices we achieved the ultimate victory. This is our small effort to pay homage to them on the golden jubilee of victory of Bangladesh.

There was no public space to gather and form a community for the alternative youth, marginalized communities, and those who enjoy arts and crafts. Salaam cinema opened its doors to different communities and started its activity with movie screenings. The space got so much attention from youth and in return, from its owner as well. To a point, the owner claimed to destroy the building which is a historical Molokan worship house and said that he plans to build a mall instead of it. The community around Salaam liked the space so much and slowly it was turning into their “home”. And when someone tried to demolish the community and the “home” they newly brought back to life, young people started to resist keeping the space for its further use. Weeks of resistance happened where at some point people physically fought against the owner and carried out a sitting protest not to leave the space. Eventually, with the support of urban activists and the community, the resistance won and Salaam could survive! Now the space hosts many arts and entertainment events and it is a safe space for different marginalized communities. For many, there is a strong feeling of community around Salaam and since its start, the building has been flourishing and getting bigger!

The video "Primary Swarm" (2020) by Agnieszka Mastalerz and Michał Szaranowicz is staged in a wind tunnel used for analyzing the flow of air. A group of people is moving towards a gate. Their relationship is not clear, they might be competitors. From a standing point, the people start to crawl. Outside, the natural environment represents an actual area in the city of Warsaw, Poland, where new apartments are supposed to be built. The artists wanted to document the current status of the landscape, before its transformation. While witnessing the slow disappearance of a green area of the city, previously available for the community and now passing in private hands, the artists wonder who will be entitled to live in those spaces and how architecture influences forms of collective life.

An exploration of a public space on Copenhagen's waterfront where the architectural structure, and access to the water, provide an open space to play, contemplate and just be. The film was produced during the CAFx Film & Architecture Workshop in Copenhagen: Leave No One Behind.

The world watched as Milwaukee residents struggled to express their right to vote when only 5 polling stations of 180 remained open to serve a population of over 600,000 in this COVID-19 pandemic. The locations that remained open were not accessible to all neighborhoods. This is what voter suppression looks like. Communities, especially those without reliable transportation, need polling stations to participate in our democracy. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Milwaukee identified a need and took action. Three club locations have already been approved to serve as polling stations and seek more prior to the November election. The clubs are trusted places for kids, parents, and the community. This civic gesture can be deployed in cities across the nation, and only takes the foresight to look at the current built environment and recognize the spaces already serving communities. Communities can use existing space to remove barriers and make it possible for everyone to vote.

A short film created as a spontaneous action of inclusion of a local taxi driver into the conversation of foreign passengers, three friends. Although we didn’t speak the same language as him, in this short moment in time we let the music he likes become our way of silent communication with him. ‘Marjana therras’ is a personal, poetic view of Tirana, where different simultaneous scenes in a symbolic try to evoke different emotions; scenes of old photographs and bucolic nostalgia, contrasted by estranged people on the streets looking at their phones. While I was staying in Tirana I had a strong feeling of empathy towards older, local people. I saw that often they don’t speak any foreign languages, while at the same time, because of economic challenges Albanian people face they are “forced to” work with tourists. As Tirana is rapidly growing and changing, the city center is full of foreigners, both investors and tourists. Local people don’t take a taxi — they take a bus or they drive a taxi. Local people often don’t go out to eat in restaurants — the eat at home or they work in restaurants. Economic differences between local people and foreigners are felt in all areas of life. In Tirana, I had a strong feeling that local people from Tirana often feel as second-grade citizens in their own city, “occupied” by English-speaking foreigners, surrounded by fancy shops and restaurants, which they, local people — can’t afford. This short film is a documentation of one humble effort of trying to make a local taxi driver feel like he’s at home in his own city, by a simple act of showing an interest in his culture through his own personal — music playlist.

In a "Space Between", Sophia talks about her personal experiences at the "Kalvebod Waves" in Copenhagen. Between tall buildings and noisy streets, the artist makes her way to the harbour where she spent a lot of time during her Erasmus: "The harbour of Copenhagen is like the Central Park for me". Sophia originally comes from a suburb near New York. In this public space she feels a safety in numbers as a queer person. She likes to spend time alone, but also with her best friend Isa. Leah Meinhof directed, filmed and edited the short documentary. Sophia Livecchi tells her personal story.

The short centers around the people using the recycling center. When I accidentally stepped into this place, I was surprised by the scenery, because in Japan(where I can from), it is not normal for people to go to a recycling center. We put our boxes in the street, and the garbage truck will pick it up. In the dump station that I went to, of course there were carpenters and gardeners, but there were also many normal people. And I think if you are Danish, I imagine that it would be a norm from a young age to go to these recycling place. In a span of four days of filming, I asked 12 people how they felt about the place. Though there were few who felt negativity in the place, everyone agreed that it is good to dump the garbage by themselves because it is good for the environment, and that it is normal to do that. As I was shooting the film, I realized that “normality” was the key word for this short. Normality is dangerous because my normal is not your normal, and the perception of one’s normality can exclude people that is not within that normality. The short has a very positive atmosphere, but at the same time, it is important to note that that positivity could “leave someone behind”. Please enjoy.
