ENG:

The exhibition 'Når vi døde vågner' is a tour de force through art history — from 1825 to 2025. From Golden Age paintings to contemporary art.

This year marks 200 years since Gammel Strand was founded. 'Når vi døde vågner' presents art history as it has flowed through Gammel Strand over two centuries — while also telling a much larger story about art’s ability to live on, transform, and resurrect. Visitors encounter both the weight of gilded frames and the immediacy of contemporary art in a vivid dialogue across generations.

'Når vi døde vågner' is not a classical retrospective. It is a resurrection. An exploration of how places and voices can be reactivated. From the traditional to the innovative.
