WE WORK IT OUT

At WE VOTE WE CARE we facilitate informal events where we citizens and politicians can meet, talk and exchange perspectives on everything from election, politics and specific topics with relevance for our everyday life.

New politicians have just been elected, the "hard work" of democracy has just begun.
Let's get our hands dirty - and help politicians succeed with their important mandate!

Join us for “WE WORK IT OUT” - an event where we invite newly elected politicians and young citizens into direct conversation based on the following guiding question:

How can politicians and citizens co-create new policies, exchange ideas, insights, and concrete ways of working together over the next four years of political mandate?

At WE VOTE WE CARE we facilitate informal events where we citizens and politicians can meet, talk and exchange perspectives on everything from election, politics and specific topics with relevance for our everyday life.

Participants

"We work it out" can be seen as the soft launch of a constructive four-year collaboration between newly elected politicians and citizens.

  • Journalist Sofie Buch Hoyer will help us understand the results of the elections (and hopefully of the newly constituted government coalition).
  • Professor Lars Tønder will help us explore how continuous and productive collaborations between citizens and elected politicians can be the key to solve some of the most complex democratic challenges we are facing today (e.g. lowering election turn out, lack of representation of minority groups, increasing mistrust in the political system and decreasing party affiliation).
  • Elected local politicians in Copenhagen and Parliament members will take part in the event to share how they would like to be supported by citizens when developing new political proposals and policies.

Program

  • 18.00 - 18.05 - Welcome and Introduction // with Sara Nardi, WE VOTE WE CARE
  • 18.05 - 18.25 - Understanding the election results // with journalist Sofie Buch Hoyer
  • 18.25 - 18.40 - Democratic challenges and how citizens and politicians can solve them by collaborating // with professor Lars Tønder, University of Southern Denmark
  • 18.40 - 19.15 - Politicians and citizens in conversation // Discussions in groups - How can we support each other and collaborate?
  • 19.15 -19.30 - Breaking bread & Bread Arts // by Thomas Christiensen from the bakery Flere Fugle

The event is hosted by the non-partisan democratic movement WE VOTE WE CARE and supported by the Tuborg Foundation.
