Værtshuset: The Best Hosts of The City

An evening exploring how to make the spaces we share welcoming through art, film, conversations and performance. With artist Luna Scales, Tutu Wanna/Tuan from Bøssehuset, and architect Lauge Floris.

Join us for an evening where stories unfold through art, film, conversation, and performance.

As you move through værtshuset, you will encounter different perspectives on how you can host in a way where all people are seen, welcomed, and celebrated. Together with artist Luna Scales, Tutu Wanna/Tuan from Bøssehuset, and architect Lauge Floris we will explore questions of norms, representation, and how to make the spaces we share welcoming.

On the evening you will meet:

Tutu Wanna: Tutu Wanna (all pronouns) / Tuan Hao Tan (he/him). As a volunteer activist, performer, musician, and drag queen, Tutu Wanna has been a regular fixture at many of Bøssehuset’s events, including the annual summer party and the traditional Christmas shows. Behind Tutu Wanna is Tuan, who takes care of everyday life and its more subtle pleasures, while trying to find those moments when Tutu Wanna can step forward and shine in small, carefully balanced doses.

Luna Scales: Luna Scales (b. 1992, Denmark) is a video-based Danish artist. Her practice shows a consistent interest in the body, patterns of movement and directions of the gaze. With posing bodies framed in environments akin to romantic imagery, Scales often uses herself as a subject: Here, she works with the medical language and the iconographic and societal history of the body – and what has constituted a “functioning” body.

Lauge Floris: is an independent practitioner within the field of architecture. His work seeks to shorten the distance between contemporary challenges and visions of the future. Along with Christine Bjerke he is the curator of værtshuset

Through the art and architecture studio Drømmekontoret & Floris, Floris explores how architecture can generate new images, relationships, and possibilities beyond pure functionality.
