Hospitalet midt i byen

Frederiksberg Hospital er gået ind i slutfasen som aktivt sygehus, og ambitionerne for området er nu, at det skal omdannes til "hele byens nye kvarter".

Hospitalsgrunden på Frederiksberg er i sandhed "et omsorgens landskab". De 106.000 kvadratmeter har huset både fattigvæsen, hospitalsvæsen og forsørgelsesvæsen. Adskillige gange er der blevet lagt store planer, men en pragmatisk tilgang og lægefaglige hensyn har ført til, at flere generationer af tidstypisk hospitalsbyggeri er endt med at ligge side om side. 

Men snart er det slut. For efter et salg på svimlende 771 mio. kr. - det dyreste i Danmarkshistorien - skal grunden i fremtiden huse en helt ny bydel. Men hvordan kan man både transformere området og bevare stedets kulturhistoriske identitet på Frederiksberg?
