Jesper Rasmussen har i en årrække arbejdet med fotografisk repræsentation af arkitektur. Det er fortrinsvis digitalt manipuleret fotografi, der viser bygninger og byrum, hvor døre, vinduer, trafik og andre tegn på menneskelig funktion og adfærd er bortretoucheret, så lokaliteterne virker fremmedgjorte og uvirkelige. Eller det er interiører og museumsrum, hvor lyskilder, møbler og kunstværker er fjernet, så kun skygger og reflektioner af det fraværende forbliver i billedet som spøgelsesagtige fantomer i rummene.

Jesper Rasmussens fotografi opererer i gråzonen mellem det autentiske og det kunstige, mellem det objektive og det subjektive, og billederne spiller på fotografiets mytologi om, at det gengiver en autentisk repræsentation af det, der befandt sig foran kameraet, da billedet blev eksponeret.
