Få indsigt i de glubske kræfter, der i disse år grådigt æder udkantens landbrug og landarbejde op i en hastig genskrivning af landskab og levevis. 

Rift Finfinnee er et hypnotisk byportræt og en filmoplevelse, som giver indsigt i de komplekse sammenhænge mellem geografi, etnicitet og økonomi, der former den etiopiske hovedstad. Samtidig udfordrer filmen det gængse bybegreb, der ofte retter sig snævert mod byens centrum. 

Gennem grandiose åbningsscener, langsomme panoreringer og præcise statiske kompositioner, udforsker Daniel Kötter Addis Ababas periferi og gør os klogere på en voldsom urbaniseringsproces i en afrikansk hovedstad på randen af borgerkrig.  

 

Filmvisningen følges op af en samtale med filmens instruktør Daniel Kötter.
