Fluid Language of Form - When the Fabric Shapes the Structure

Lecture
Credit:
Frederik Petersen

The lecture offers insight into the technical challenges and artistic considerations behind the development of a detailed, organic design language using fabric formwork – an unpredictable casting process in which thin, elastic membranes are used to create sculptural, structural elements. The process's surprisingly complex geometries are presented through photography and drawing, as well as through physical scale models and casting molds that the audience is invited to explore.
