This public conversation on Slow Spatial Practice explores slowness as an artistic dimension of architecture that gives space to often conflicted and marginalised voices. Slow Down (book published 2020/2024) is the central idea of Japanese philosopher Kohei Saito’s proposal for a democratic reform of labour and production through the deceleration of economic activities. Drawing on Saito’s thought (Saito will participate in the talk online), Momoyo Kaijima of Atelier Bow-Wow, and Heidi S. Kajita & Masashi Kajita of Bureaus bring their expertise as architects, researchers, and educators to this urgent topic by focusing on spatial and material dimensions. The event includes keynote presentations and a conversation guided by the Slow Spatial Practice reading group.

DAN:
