The Garden of Decay – An exhibition of Entangled Ecologies

In this exhibition project we approach a garden as an archeological site where we explore the multi-species habitats that have emerged, evolved and entangled with the passing of time. With a history of anthropocentric transitions from seabed to island, from industry to bankruptcy, from abandonment to rediscovery, how do we imagine a shift towards a more-than-human future? By making the garden a place for active research, visitors are offered a chance to experience a staging of entangled ecosystems and take part in the on-going research through events with various collaborators. Rather than a static display, the exhibition will be a slow process of (re)learning how stories and species coexist, conflict, and cooperate within a shared habitat. Open 24/7.

I dette udstillingsprojekt betragter vi en have som et arkæologisk sted, hvor vi udforsker de flerarts-habitater, der er opstået, udviklet og viklet ind i hinanden over tid. Med en historie præget af antropocentriske overgange – fra havbund til ø, fra industri til konkurs, fra forladt til genopdaget – hvordan kan vi forestille os et skifte mod en mere-end-menneskelig fremtid? Ved at gøre haven til et sted for aktiv forskning får besøgende mulighed for at opleve en iscenesættelse af sammenflettede økosystemer og deltage i den igangværende forskning gennem arrangementer med forskellige samarbejdspartnere. Snarere end en statisk fremvisning vil udstillingen være en langsom proces med at (gen)lære, hvordan historier og arter sameksisterer, kommer i konflikt og samarbejder i et fælles habitat. Åbent døgnet rundt.
