Each month our Film Club brings you closer to the most important and interesting figures of contemporary architecture. For this month’s screening we present a portrait of Xu Tiantian, the founder of DnA_Design and Architecture.

Tiantian is known for her “architectural acupuncture” and is a pioneering figure in the field of rural revitalization in China and at the forefront of creating transformative architectural interventions. “Architectural Acupuncture” is a holistic method aimed at the comprehensive social and economic revitalization of rural communities. A precisely crafted treatment addressing the specific cultural, historical, and economic conditions of each community.

Xu Tiantian received her Baccalaureate in Architecture from Tsinghua University in China, and her Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is an AIA Honorary Fellow and elected member of Akademie der Künste in Berlin. She has received numerous awards including the Swiss Architectural Award, Kunstpreis Berlin and the Wolf Prize in Architecture.

The film is produced by Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) - an international research institution and museum. Irene Chin, Curator at CCA, will give a short introduction to the film.

Three of Xu Tiantian’s projects are presented in the exhibition Memoryscapes, which is currently on view at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. We urge you to go see the show!

The day after the film screening Louisiana will also host Irene Chin in the exhibition space, for a more in-depth presentation of Tiantian’s praxis in continuation of Memoryscapes. Another event that we urge you to go see in the museums beautiful surroundings.
