Fremtiden i forstaden – Rødovre før, nu og aldrig

Tag de gode sko på, og gå med Rødovre Kommunes stadsarkitekt gennem nye og ældre kvarterer til en samtale om forstadens udvikling og planlægning, fortidens idealer og nutidens forhåbninger for fremtiden.

Rødovre Kommune

I 1945 bestod Rødovre hovedsageligt af marker og gartnerier. 20 år senere med Rødovre Centrums åbning var kommunen stort set udbygget. De centrale områder blev planlagt i tråd med velfærdsstatens idealer om sundhed, lighed, fællesskab og velstand, hvilke stadig er styrende for byudviklingen den dag i dag.

På denne byvandring ser vi på, hvordan det byggede miljø understøtter skiftende tiders forestillinger om det gode liv og det fælles bedste. Vi starter i Irmabyen, går igennem den store kollektivbebyggelse Carlsro fra 1950'erne, besøger Arne Jacobsens rådhus og bibliotek, inden vi fortsætter til Rødovregård og Heerupmuseet. Med Jesper Pagh (stadsarkitekt) og Lise Kongsgaard (leder af planafdelingen) følger vi, hvordan Rødovre er vokset fra en mindre landsby til en tæt, grøn forstad.
