Hvorfor er det vigtigt at blive involveret i forandrings- og fornyelsesprocesser i ens boligområde? Og hvad betyder det for beboeres stedsans, når deres hjem underlægges langstrakte og indgribende transformationsprocesser? Kom tættere på svarene med filmen The Islanders og efterfølgende debat. 

257 familier gør sig klar til at flytte. Deres boliger skal rives ned for at give plads til private ejendomme. Men: Hvordan putter man 10, 20 eller 45 leveår i papkasser? Og hvor tager man hen? 

Vi perspektiverer til Danmark sammen med unge fra Gellerup og Vollsmose, antropolog Michael Ulfstjerne fra Emergency Architecture & Human Rights og projektlederne Alexander Muchenberger, Aysha Amin og Pernille Maria Bärnheim fra Vi Fællesskaber Vores By – Gellerup.
