Tsai Ming-Liang: The Hole

Kakerlak-båren virus og urbane relationer.

Vi befinder os i de sidste dage af det 20. århundrede. En kakerlak-båren virus har udslettet det meste liv i Taipei. En uregerlig regn oversvømmer gaderne og trænger sig langsomt ind i de grå boligblokke, hvor de få, der endnu er tilbage, holder til. Da en navnløs mand (Tsai Ming-liangs skuespiller-muse Lee Kang-sheng) opdager en revne i sit gulv, graver han det med nysgerrighed større og større. En revne bliver til et hul, og hullet bliver et underfundigt rum til at kommunikere med den kvindelige underbo. Tsai skaber et komplekst portræt af det urbane rum og dets muligheder for isolation og flygtige forbindelser. Filmen vises på 35mm.
