Inclusivity and the Character of a City

Transformations in Tirana: The potential of film to portray the city’s true character.

June 29, 2023

Following a film and architecture workshop, carried out by CAFx in collaboration with Barleti University and Tirana Architecture Triennale in January 2023 to explore inclusivity in the Albania’s capital, professor Saimir Kristo shares with CAFx his thoughts on creating a new image of Tirana and understanding the city through filming.

How is Tirana, across its complex history, progressively getting responsive to new global challenges and adopting inclusive design in the built environment and social relations?

Read the full conversation on ArchDaily about the developing city of Tirana, known to be a laboratory of urban experimentation, as well as critical debates provoked by short films production during the workshop.

This article is part of an article series on film and inclusive design developed around the Film Mosaic project. The Film Mosaic: Leave No One Behind is Copenhagen Architecture Festival’s short film competition documenting inclusive design solutions found in the built, grown, and planned environment.

You can access all films in the competition on the dedicated platform and participate in the final Film Mosaic Award Ceremony on 3 July 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
