Copenhagen Architecture Biennial has invited Jan Gehl, world renowned urban planner and founder of Gehl Architects, to select a favourite film for this edition of the biennial. Gehl will introduce the film.

Watch this classic comedy by Jacques Tati on a rooftop cinema in the center of Copenhagen and introduced by “the human scale”-godfather, Jan Gehl.

Mon Oncle centers on the socially awkward yet lovable character of Monsieur Hulot and his quixotic struggle with postwar France's infatuation with modern architecture, mechanical efficiency and consumerism. The film presents a timeless critique of modernism and its impact on human life. It remains a reminder of the importance of balance, human connection, and the enduring appeal of simpler ways of life in the face of technological and societal change.

A film by Jacques Tati,

year: 1958, length: 117 min., language: french, subs: English
