Den farlige gade I: Mean Streets (EN/DA)

Mean Streets er en film om gadens mange ambivalenser og om den nostalgi og de store sociale problematikker, der knyttede sig til 70’ernes New York.

Mean Streets (1973) Martin Scorsese

Scorsese fik sit store gennembrud med Mean Streets, et energisk og voldsomt portræt af et New York’er gademiljø. Harvey Keitel og Robert de Niro spiller to unge mænd, der forsøger at navigere et voldsmiljø, men gaderne er næsten lige så vigtige karakterer i filmen. Med inspiration fra cinema verité og de mange gadebilleder i de franske nouvelle vague film, men lige så meget præget af amerikansk b-film og film noir by-skildringer, skabte Scorsese et af 70’ernes definerende filmiske rum.

Inden visningen vil der være en introduktion, der perspektiverer filmen til årets tema ‘Stedsans’. (Introduktion på dansk)

Gaden er både det modernes grundlag og problem; et motiv, så dybt indridset i kulturens fortællinger og billeder, at angrebet og forsvaret for gaden har været en hundredeårs-motor i den vestlige arkitektur- og modernitetsteori.
