Endnu en hedebølge er omdrejningspunktet i Spike Lees klassiker Do The Right Thing. Her hænger en række karakterer ud på gaden i Brooklyn-bydelen Bed-Stuy, men i løbet af dagen bliver området også skueplads for en række sammenstød, hvor særligt USAs strukturelle problemer med race kommer op til overfladen. Spike Lees film blev anklaget for at opfordre til vold da den udkom i 1989, men i vore dage virker den først og fremmest som et nærmest profetisk portræt af gade-spændinger, der dengang som nu altid blot er et enkelt politi-indgreb fra at eksplodere. En af firsernes bedste amerikanske film.
